Hyundai to showcase IONIQ 5, Tucson plug-in hybrid and NEXO at the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show and Quebec Electric Vehicle Show

Hyundai’s upcoming, fully-electric IONIQ 5 CUV will be on display for the first time in the province of Quebec. 2022 Kona Electric and Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid available for test drives.

MARKHAM, ONT. (Sept 15, 2021) – Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. set to make an electrifying return to consumer auto shows through its presence at both the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show and the Quebec Electric Vehicle Show. Making its provincial debut will be the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 5; the NEXO FCEV and other models in Hyundai’s 2022 lineup. The all-new Santa Fe Plug-in hybrid and refreshed Kona Electric will be available for test drives at the shows.

We are therefore thrilled to bring the general public closer to the Hyundai brand by showcasing the full breadth of Hyundai’s electrified lineup, leading with the all-new, fully-electric IONIQ 5,” says Christine Smith, director of marketing for Hyundai Canada. “The majority of pre-orders for the IONIQ 5 are from Quebec, and the Electric Vehicles Shows present the first opportunity for those customers to see our latest fully-electric vehicle up-close before it hits showrooms this winter.”

Hyundai’s display of fully-electric and hybrid vehicles will include:

IONIQ 5 – the first of the burgeoning IONIQ lineup to be built on the Electric Global Modular Platforms (E-GMP), making it incredibly spacious with a comfortable and versatile interior. The IONIQ 5 driving range is between 470-480 km. It can be charged to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes and a 5-minute charge will provide range of up to 100 km. The dual motor setup is an all-wheel drive (AWD) option producing a combined power output of 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft. of torque – allowing drivers to go from 0-100 km in less than 5.2 seconds.

Kona Electric A full charge allows for up to 415 kilometres of travel. The Kona Electric, refreshed for model year 2022, has a battery that can be recharged up to 80 percent of its capacity in less than an hour with a Level 3, 100 KW fast charging station. The Kona Electric will be available for test-drives by visiting the Road Test Zone.

NEXO – with an estimated 570 km driving range, the Hydrogen-powered NEXO zero-emission for an electrochemical process combining Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms in a fuel cell stack, making pure water vapour the only exhaust emission.

Tucson PHEV – The bold design, generous cargo capacity, and fuel economy are just a few of the re-visited features in this best-selling vehicle. The Tucson Plug-in Hybrid is all about comfort and efficiency with its Remote Smart Parking Assist, Bose® premium sound system and Smart power liftgate. Laden with smart technology and safety features, the Tucson PHEV will sure delight many consumers.

Santa Fe PHEV – Available for a test drive, this spacious and stylish vehicle is ideal for families with an eco-conscious lifestyle. Not short of any safety technology features, the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid’s core is the SUPERSTRUCTURE™, Hyundai’s state-of-the-art platform built with Advanced High-Strength Steel to deliver exceptional stiffness and strength to protect occupants inside the vehicle by absorbing harmful energy and redirecting it away from the passenger compartment.

Elantra HEV – Equipped with Hyundai’s SmartSense™ suite of safety features, the technology in the Elantra Hybrid is nothing short of impressive. A 10.25" full digital instrument cluster delivers an impressive digital interface, and the 10.25" full digital instrument cluster with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a screen that’s tilted toward the driver for easier control and access from behind the wheel.

The MEVS and QEVS will take place on September 17, 18 and 19, 2021 at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal and October 1, 2 and 3, 2021 at Centre de foires de Québec respectively.
